The Unicorn Trajectory: who to hire, and when to hire them

This session will cover the highlights of a data project run by Notion Capital to find out who B2B software Unicorns hired into their leadership teams, and when they hired them, to generate hiring insights founded in data rather than by instinct alone.

The project includes 50 Unicorns and the 1,442 people in their leadership teams, as well as 50 Control Group companies who raised VC cash but have never been valued at over $100m, and the 514 people in their leadership teams.

During the session we'll uncover some of the main differences between the people in the two groups in terms of the previous employers, educational backgrounds, and years of experience, to create learnings to help you build a world class leadership team.

Format

Intro: Jos White, General Partner at Notion, will set the scene for this session by asking for key questions from the audience. What problems are Founders and Leaders currently experiencing with their company growth trajectory, and what are their biggest challenges? Jos will address these questions, before we move into a data deep dive to help uncover some answers.

A data deep dive: In this session, Notion’s Maddy Cross will cover the highlights of a data project run by Notion VC that was set up to find out who B2B SaaS Unicorns hired into their leadership teams, and when they hired them, to generate hiring insights founded in data rather than by instinct alone.
