Over the past few years, we have been excited to watch a number of successful AI companies emerge out of the UK. These include DeepMind, which was acquired by Google in 2014 for a reported $500m, Swiftkey (acquired by Microsoft for $250m in 2016) and a number of other successes such as Evi (acquired by Amazon), VocalIQ (acquired by Apple) and PredictionIO (acquired by Salesforce). We’ve been delighted to see the continued progress in this space through our London.AI Meetup, and have recently been reflecting on why the UK, and in particular the Oxbridge-London triangle, has become a world leading hub for machine learning startups. Here are a few of the points we gathered so far: https://www.digitalcatapultcentre.org.uk/artificial-intelligence-made-in-the-uk/
